Old players values in new money
After reading the article on Allardyce being of the generation that missed out on the big money in football and watching Zaza put in a shift in the mode of Lee Chapman it got me thinking about modern day average players and the sums being spent on them compared to players of old...

So name the player, give an comparison to today's players and then give a value-

I'll start

Champman - Zaza - £20m

Chapman better than Zaza?

Did you ever watch Chapman play for us?

What next Dowie better than Carroll? David Kelly better than Sakho?

Jimmy Greaves should have been the first £10,000 player but Nicholson didn't want him to carry that so he paid one pound under 10,000

God you couldn't put a price on some of the players of the past. Brooking, Bonds, Devonshire, Moore. Jimmy Greaves at his peak would be worth 100 m if you take into account what Pogba went for.

You can find NEW players on the cheap, Mahrez and Payet are the example. Scary to think that Mancs have blown 200m on centre midfielder in the last 2 seasons and they still look SHIT.

Yeh, said in the game after about the stick he was getting too and just accepted it.

He was smashing Leslie ASH who at the time was a right sort.

Di Canio at 30 with one and a half years left on his contract would cost any of the title chasing teams that want him £30m

Joe Cole at 20 would cost £35m

Gary Been would still leave on a free.

I do agree with that- but people seem to care less about chucking massive money about for 'headcases' these days as long as they do the business.

I don't think he would though. His talent was never in question, just the shit that went with it. Thankfully 'Arry was perfect for him.

Chapman scored v Notts County I think, was getting really bad stick at the time and his celebration reflected that.
